1000000 march to end the occupation
End the
Occupation
Declaration of Purpose
7 July, 2005
End the
Occupation is an independent organization representing a worldwide
movement of people who demand an immediate end to the occupation in
Israel,
and are willing to peacefully mobilize and act to make that happen.
1) The
demand for an end to the occupation is non-negotiable -- it is for the
common good of the Israeli people as well as the Palestinian people.
2) To achieve
this goal, Palestinians, Israelis, and concerned citizens from
other countries will mobilize, campaign, and act until every Israeli
soldier,
policeman, and all other Israeli security personnel leaves the West
Bank and
Gaza.
3) The
aim of this campaign will be to educate and raise awareness regarding
this issue, to encourage productive discourse, to bring our organization
and
its goals to the forefront of the world media, to work towards garnering
support and influence from the leaders of peaceful nations, and to mobilize
young
people from both Israel and Palestine -- as well as other nations of
the world
-- who desire peace and are willing to work towards those ends.
4) End
the Occupation will launch and maintain a website to disperse
information, encourage discussion, raise awareness, and to build membership,
and will
work in conjunction with other internationally recognized progressive
organizations towards achieving its stated goals.
5) The
culmination of the campaign will be a Million Human March, a
high-profile, peaceful, mass demonstration designed to attract the attention
of world
leaders, private citizens, and media from all nations - with the ultimate
goal
of ending the occupation. The participants will march quietly and in
a
non-violent fashion along a yet to be designated route in Israel. In
peaceful
defiance of the occupational authorities, the multitudes gathered will
symbolically
march through the security checkpoints, crossing from one side of the
Green
Line to the other.
6) With
the world watching, the march will end at a point in Israel yet to be
determined, and there the participants will remain peacefully until
their
demand that the end of the Israeli occupation on the West Bank and Gaza
is fully
met.
7) The
worldwide campaign to End the Occupation will get underway as soon as
possible, and work towards the goal of June 2006 for the march.
8) It is
the declared and uncompromisable intention of End the Occupation
that all of our actions and our discourse will reflect respect for one
another
and for those we will have to confront and influence. Under no circumstances
will we initiate or support any acts of violence.
9) We are
highly aware that this will be a difficult task. We choose this
mode of action because all other previous attempts at peace have failed.
10) End
the Occupation both welcomes and encourages the support of all
like-minded countries, world leaders, organizations, and private citizens
who care
for the future of Israel and Palestine and the two nations that co-exist
there.
The vision
of End the Occupation is of an Israeli-Palestinian state in which
every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights standards,
despite
their socio-economic standing, ethnicity, or religion.
