Jewish Protest against Israel. Pressure of EU demanded. Wiener Zeitung, Monday 11/13/2006
Brussels/Vienna. The "European Jews for a Just Peace/EJJP" appealed to the European Union to take strong and impartial steps to urge Israel to respect international law. The actions of the Israeli army have culminated in an unbearable level of oppression and persecution of the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip, as it says on Monday in the statement of the Executive Committee of the Association of 18 Jewish organisations in ten European countries, including Austria.
"As European citizens we are not willing to be silent about crimes beeing committed against a captive, occupied people, who are the victims of the events of European history. As Jews we will not make the same mistake which we have often blamed others for, silence about crimes against humanity", so in the EJJP statement.
